1.31.17 – Requests for Testimony

Action Alert:
1.31.17 Request for Testimony

One of the ways you can have you voice heard is submitting testimony and we will be sending you action alerts about requests for testimony from our Supporting Organizations:

PLANNED PARENTHOOD VOTES NORTHWEST AND HAWAI‘I

Do you think women should have to fear being lied to when they seek honest health information?
If your answer is “NO”, you can submit testimony right away and tell the committee that you support HB663/SB501 because you believe any woman seeking pregnancy testing services deserves a basic standard of care.
  • HB663 / SB501  We’re calling them the “Reproductive Fact Acts.”

This Thursday, the House Health committee will be considering the House bill, and this Friday, the Senate Health Committee will consider the Senate bill. Testimony on HB 663 is due by 9:30 am on Feb. 1 and on SB 501 by 9:30 am on Feb. 2.
Limited Service Pregnancy Centers, also known as Crisis Pregnancy Centers, bring patients in by offering free pregnancy tests, but then their clients are subjected to biased, misleading and even false pregnancy and health care information. These centers are opposed to abortion and usually provide no medical care. There are at least 7 such centers operating across the state of Hawaii.

Women go to these centers in times of crisis, in need of medical care and unbiased pregnancy information. Instead, they are given false or misleading information, their private medical information isn’t protected, their test results and medical records may be withheld for inordinate amounts of time, and they are denied needed referrals for reproductive health care.

OPPOSITION of HB 677 In Vitro Fertilization Procedure Coverage
Reason the LGBT Caucus is opposing this bill is that in does NOT cover same-sex couples and there is a religious exemption in this bill. We believe that HB 664 is the better and more inclusive bill.

SUPPORT of HB 665 Relating To Victims of Sexual Violence
